Just one more sleep...

I can't believe that I am (almost) packed and ready to go to Africa!  This is taking some serious problem solving skills on my part, since there are a lot of rules and regulations in going to a foreign country!  First you need a passport, which is an official document that identifies you and allows you back into your own country, then you need a VISA which is an official stamp that goes in the official document and allows you to go into the country you are visiting.  Getting a passport is no easy deal, just ask my husband (but I digress).

But back to the packing, thanks to so many people with kind and generous hearts, I had a lot to pack!  (and none of this is for me!)

In addition to the donated clothes, toys, and soccer balls, we are bringing teaching and craft materials.  How do you think the balloon pumps will appear in the airport scanners?  Good thing I have 300 balloons, kite string, and masking tape in there too!  I am sure it will make perfect sense to airport security.

I am technically visiting three countries - South Africa (where the famous Oscar Pistorius trial is now being held-we will only see the airport in this country, mylady), Zambia (where we will be staying in the House of Moses, an orphanage run by the Christian Alliance), Botswana (where we will visit Victoria Falls, and go on a safari) and return back to Zambia to visit schools to teach and play.  We have a full itinerary of adventures! Got my documents, got my shots (yup - typhoid, yellow fever, and hepatitis A&C) and started my malaria meds this morning!  Got my money all ironed (yup, that's right, bills have to be flat, no wrinkles, no ink, and newer than 2008 to purchase a Visa) and electronics all charged (new rule this morning).

A few more things to work out before I go.....how to get pictures directly from my camera to my computer with just wifi, how to download a movie or two on my ipad, decide how many pounds of snacks I will need to have for a 17 hour flight, and figure out how to get the rest of my belongings in a "carry-on" bag.

No problem, I have 6 more hours and one more sleep before I leave!
